Singing Competition for Science Year 2018

September 2018

Forschungszentrum Jülich has produced a music video as part of its involvement in a singing competition organized by Science Year 2018, an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The video sees ProTon, the choir of Forschungszentrum Jülich, joining forces with numerous colleagues to sing “Unsere Stammbaum” – a song by Cologne-based band Bläck Fööss.

The music video was filmed at the Ernst Ruska-Centre (ER-C), the Institute of Bio- and Geosciences (IBG-2), and at the Helmholtz Nano Facility (HNF). Dr. Raimund Tölle from the Nuclear Physics Institute (IKP-4) was responsible for the musical direction.

You can show your support for colleagues by voting for the video on the competition’s website before the end of September. The Jülich video is up against rival productions from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Museum among others.

Internationality and the Rhineland

The song “Unsere Stammbaum” focuses on internationality and togetherness in the Rhineland, and thus perfectly encapsulates Forschungszentrum Jülich as a workplace.

To enter the competition, which is part of the initiative "Science Year 2018 – The Working Environment of the Future", colleagues get together to sing a song and make a video. The singing competition is not about achieving musical perfection, but rather about being creative and having fun.
