New Materials for the Transformation of the Energy Sector
Federal Ministry of Education and Research Earmarks € 6.5 Million for Battery and Energy Research at Jülich
Jülich, 30 August 2012 – Jülich researchers intend to study materials for solar cells and battery systems down to the atomic level and also understand processes that occur at their surface. Their aim is to improve production processes as well as the efficiency of photovoltaic cells and to increase the lifetime and power density of batteries. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) supports the scientists with € 6.5 million from the 6th Energy Research Programme. Today, Thomas Rachel MdB, parliamentary state secretary in BMBF, presented the grant notification to Prof. Lorenz Singheiser, director at the Institute of Energy and Climate Research (IEK-2).
