Gas phase investigations of biomolecules: a critical look at results

Jülich, 12 January 2015 – Mass spectrometry of biomolecules, such as proteins or DNA, is becoming increasingly important in molecular biology, cell biology, and systems biology. However, in contrast to what was previously assumed, results from such gas phase investigations cannot always be transferred directly to molecules in aqueous solutions. This was reported by an international research group involving Jülich scientists in the specialist journal Angewandte Chemie.
