Altmetrics: New Bibliometrics Service Reveals Citations in Social Media

Jülich, 20 September 2017 – Forschungszentrum Jülich has begun a three-year test phase of an online bibliometrics service provided by Altmetric. The service reveals the response to Jülich publications in social media, online news portals, and other websites. In order to determine the online response to publications, selected press releases concerning scientific publications available on Jülich’s website will now feature the Altmetric pictogram. It will be visible next to the information about the original publication and display the number of mentions as well as information about the associated communication channels, which are specified in detail on the provider’s website. The Altmetrics Explorer is also one of the databases provided by the Central Library.
