Calandrini

HDR Dr. Vania Calandrini

Research Associate

Publications and Statistics

I am a researcher at the Computational Biomedicine Institute IAS-5/INM-9, Forschungszentrum Jülich (Germany). I studied Physics at the University of Perugia (Italy), where I got the Master. I defended my PhD thesis in Physics at the University of Parma (Italy). In 2011 I obtained the Habilitation in Physics at the University of Orléans (France), with a dissertation on “Stochastic dynamics in molecular liquids and proteins”. In 2012 I obtained the Qualification for University professor positions from the French National Council of Universities (Conseil National des Universités).

Research interests and activities

Our research aims at modeling the signaling processes occurring at subneuronal level. To this end we develop multiscale (hybrid) models and computational methods (from atomistic/coarse grained to mesoscale) to describe internal protein dynamics and transport phenomena of macromolecules occurring at subcellular level, based on statistical mechanics approaches.
