Dr. Veronika Müller, PhD Psychology

Research Fellow, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf

Research topic:

  • Multimodal modeling of affective and social processes in health and psychiatric diseases

Methodological topics:

  • fMRI
  • Resting-state functional connectivity
  • ALE meta-analysis, meta-analytical connectivity modeling (MACM)
  • Connectivity-based parcellation (CBP)

The main goal of my research is to achieve a better understanding of the neural mechanisms and interactions associated with socio-affective processes as well as how interindividual differences in emotional and cognitive functions relate to brain structure and function. This is done by on the one hand using meta-analyses in order to delineate brain regions consistently found across the literature investigating these processes but in addition by investigating functional connectivity within networks of socio-affective processing. Additionally, potential dysfunctions in neural networks associated to these processes are investigated in patients with schizophrenia and depression.
