Study on E-Mobility 2020–2030: Germany Ready for Change
Jülich, 4 October 2012 – The market launch of electric cars envisaged by the German Federal Government can be achieved without major modification of the electric grid. Jülich researchers and their partners in the NET-ELAN project funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology come to this conclusion in a study that has now been published. The use of electric vehicles could reduce CO2 emissions from the entire transport sector by up to 7 % by 2030. However, vehicle batteries are not really suitable for the interim storage of wind energy.
