Jülich scientists detect key region for social judgements

Jülich, 20 March 2013 – A glance, a sentence – it doesn't even take a second for us to make our first judgement of the person opposite. Various impressions play a part in this process. Jülich scientists have investigated which areas of the brain are active when people judge voices. Their finding is that it is the same region that is also active when we assess faces. From the researchers' point of view there must be a key region in the brain for social evaluations – irrespective of whether we make them on the basis of voices or faces.
