Jülich physicists simulate uptake of nanoparticles in cells
Jülich, 5 February 2014 – Medical science has high hopes of nanopharmaceuticals which target diseased cells and release drugs there while not attacking healthy tissue. Recent research results by Jülich physicists could help to identify substances that can be readily taken up by cells. The researchers discovered that the shape of the nanoparticles influences uptake. The findings, which could also be useful for identifying the possible damaging effects some nanoparticles have on cells, have been published online in the high-impact journal Nano Letters (DOI: 10.1021/nl403949h).
