Coupling of Biochips and Neuroimplants

Jülich, 23 July 2014 – Jülich scientists have investigated what sort of 3D nanoelectrodes would be required for biological cells to establish an optimal connection with them. The ideal state proved to be a stalk, as long and thin as possible, with a wide cap. The findings are of interest for the development of retina implants and high-precision biosensors, which are used to test medicines and explore the causes of neurodegenerative diseases.
