Launch of Alzheimer’s Project

Tests for new candidate active substances begin at Forschungszentrum Jülich

Jülich, 4 September 2014 – A large-scale project that aims to get a novel active substance for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease through phase I clinical trials has been launched at Forschungszentrum Jülich. The first step in the next two and a half years will be to test the safety of the substance – an essential step towards developing a drug. Prof. Dr. Dieter Willbold and his team from the Institute of Complex Systems have been granted € 2 million from the Helmholtz Validation Fund (HVF) for the project.
