ESA to Focus on Plant Research

Jülich/Paris, 19 November 2015 – The European Space Agency (ESA) announced that plant research will be the focus of the next Earth Explorer satellite mission. The new satellite will be launched in around seven years’ time and will provide essential data on global plant productivity. Its core component – a high-resolution spectrometer – reliably indicates when plants are under stress. Jülich scientists were involved in developing and testing the spectrometer’s measuring principle.
