PhD student specialising on HPC processor architectures

The Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) one of the three national supercomputing centres in Germany. It is partnering with leading technology providers on co-design hardware architectures for future supercomputers. In this context we are looking to recruit a

PhD Student

for research on current and future ARM-based architectures for high-performance computing. The research will be performed within the European project "MB2020".

Your Job:

  • Implementation and porting of mini-applications on current and future ARM-based architectures
  • Evaluation and performance analysis based on theoretical models, evaluation of available hardware architectures and use of simulators
  • Contribute to identification of potential bottlenecks in the design of a future processor design when executing real applications
  • Contribute to implementation of code generation tools for future ARM architectures

Your Profile:

  • University degree in computer sciences or relevant computational science areas like physics, chemistry, biology
  • Strong background in computer architectures
  • Experience in programming in C or C++ and in using scripting languages commonly used on Unix systems
  • Experience in parallel programming is desirable
  • Good command of English
  • Ability and willingness to work in an international, interdisciplinary and distributed teams as well as to assume responsibility
