Part-time student employee (10–15 hours/week): Project-related tasks in the field of image processing
The Central Institute for Electronics (ZEL) is a scientific and technical institute at Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH. It implements research and development projects in cooperation with the institutes of Forschungszentrum Jülich and with external partners.
Work at ZEL focuses on the development of electronic and information technology system solutions in sensor and detector technology, signal and data processing, measuring technology as well as imaging and image processing.
Tomographic imaging techniques (MRI, PET, SPECT, optical methods) provide in vivo three-dimensional image data on the structure and function of human and animal organs. The segmentation of three-dimensional regions known as volumes of interest is an important prerequisite for morphological and functional analyses. Suitable methods are being developed for this within the framework of an EU project (NoE EMIL).
The part-time position involves project-related tasks in the field of image processing. The tools developed by our group for semi-automatic segmentation are being expanded to include simple functionalities and tested. Appropriate binary versions of the programs are required before they are passed on internal and external partners. Programming is based on the languages C and C++ and is performed in the MITK development environment (based on ITK, VTK, QT).
Students studying information technology or engineering (TU) should have excellent programming skills in C and/or C++ and a basic knowledge of digital image processing. Experience working with MITK, ITK VTK and/or QT would be advantageous.
The position is initially for a fixed term of six months and involves a maximum of 15 hours per week.
