PhD position in Computational Molecular Science

Description:
The focus of this project will be the design of novel pain-killers targeting the mu-opioid receptor. The PhD research activities will employ Bioinformatics and Molecular Dynamics simulations as well as Cheminformatics. The project is in joint collaboration with Grünenthal GmbH and Vietnam National University (KeyLab for Multiscale Simulations).

The PhD position will be located at the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine at the Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany. It offers a highly cross-disciplinary environment due to a strong collaboration with the RWTH Aachen University, Germany.

Your Profile:

  • Master degree in Physics, Chemistry, Bioinformatics or a related field.
  • Experience in theoretical (Bio-)Chemistry and/or in Physics
  • Basic knowledge of computational biology techniques as well as Unix operative system is highly appreciated
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Communication and teamwork skills

  • The position is available for 3 years. Payment of the Ph.D fellow will be based on salary grade EG 13 (50%) Collective Agreement for the Civil Service (TVöD).
