The Institute of Bio- and Geosciences, IBG-2 Plant Sciences, at the Research Center Jülich has a national and international leading role in quantitative assessment of structural and functional plant traits with non-invasive methods. Within the framework of the EU funded project EPPN (European Plant Phenotyping Network) diverse activities are coordinated to enable an interaction with different user groups. EPPN facilities can be used by these user groups for plant phenotyping experiments. The user access requires close cooperation and communication with platform operators and users from industry and academia.

We are looking to recruit a

Coordinator (f/m) for the establishment of communication and exchange platforms in international plant phenotyping networks (19,5 hours/week)

Your Job:

  • Communication and coordination of EPPN activities with diverse international user groups and EPPN partners
  • Administrative scientific support with the realization of user projects
  • Organization and performing of project meetings, workshops and committee assemblies as well as support in preparation of reports
  • Support in planning the use of human and financial resources for network activities
  • Development and application of web based tools, in cooperation with IT experts, to enable interaction with user groups and EPPN partners
  • Editing of scientific texts in English to present EPPN activities on different PR platforms

Your Profile:

  • University education in English or Communication Sciences or a natural-scientific field with respective and proofed experience in public relations and communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of plant scientific problems
  • Very good experience in editing scientific English texts written by non-native speakers
  • Ability to use and develop communication strategies including the use of multimedia, web-based technology
  • Experience of working with scientific societies, organizations and policy makers
  • Experience in public relations, publishing of print and web based media
  • Experience in project management and general administrative duties
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
