The Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) one of the three national supercomputing centres in Germany. It is partnering with leading technology providers on co-design hardware architectures for future supercomputers.

In this context we are looking to recruit a

Research Scientist / PhD Student for innovative hardware architectures

Your Job:

  • Analysis of computational requirements of scientific applications
  • Investigation of strategies on porting such applications to new hardware architectures
  • Modelling of application performance
  • Implementation of application kernels and analysis of their performance
  • Evaluation of the new hardware designs and formulation of best practices for its exploitation
  • Support installation and operation of prototypes

Your Profile:

  • University degree in computer sciences, mathematics, physics or computational sciences
  • Knowledge in the field of computer architectures
  • Experience in programming in C, C++ or Fortran and using scripting languages commonly used on Unix systems
  • Experience in parallel programming is desirable
  • Knowledge of reconfigurable hardware (FPGAs) is desirable
  • Good command of English
  • Ability and willingness to work in an international, interdisciplinary and distributed teams as well as to assume responsibility

  • Interested candidates can either take-up this Position as doctoral fellow, in which case the contract will be limited until 31.12.2020. Otherwise the contract will be limited until 31.12.2017.

  • Salary and social benefits in conformity with the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service (TVöD).
