Plants are the fundamental basis of nutrition as well as raw materials and recyclables starting material for the energetic and material use of biomass. At the Institute of Bio- and Geosciences - Institute Plant Science (IBG - 2) an integrated approach for the intensification and sustainability of crop production and plant utilization will be developed to enable sustainable crop production for the bio-economy of the future.

We are looking to recruit a

Engineer Automation Technology, Instrumentation, Control

Your Job:

  • Planning of phenotyping facilities in collaboration with biologists and external companies
  • Conception, optimization, and construction of automated phenotyping systems
  • Mechanical design and construction of equipment and systems for automated plant research infrastructure
  • Commissioning and documentation of the operational experimental systems
  • Instruction of scientific staff in the operation and handling of phenotyping facilities
  • Maintenance of facilities and troubleshooting

Your Profile:

  • University degree (Bachelor) in the field of mechanical engineering, automation engineering or a comparable qualification with working experience
  • using 3D CAD (SolidWorks/Inventor) and experience in control engineering
  • a high degree of self-initiative, sense of responsibility and team spirit
  • a good command of German and good English skills.

  • Programming skills in C++/C# and LabView
  • Programming skills in PLC
