The Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) operates one of the most powerful computer systems for scientific and technical applications in Europe and makes it available for research purposes to scientists at Forschungszentrum Jülich, in Germany, and throughout Europe. Important fields of the work of the “mathematics and education” department at JSC include mathematical modelling and the development and optimization of innovative numerical methods and algorithms on massively parallel supercomputers.

We are looking to recruit a

Postdoc in the field of mathematics and/or scientific computing

Your Job:

  • analysis and adjustment of the time-parallel method PFASST for hyperbolic problems
  • close collaboration with our partners at European universities
  • active participation in project proposal writing
  • supervision of students and trainees

Your Profile:

  • university degree in the field of mathematics or scientific computing, followed by a doctoral degree
  • profound knowledge of iterative methods, numerical ODE solvers and methods for hyperbolic problems
  • strong expertise in C++ and/or Python programming, first experience with scientific software frameworks like e.g. DUNE is helpful but not mandatory
  • social competence and good communication skills for collaborative work in and with interdisciplinary teams
  • excellent command of written and spoken English, command of German is helpful but not mandatory
