Plants are essential as a basic resource for food and feed as well as a basis for plant based bioeconomy. The Institute of Bio and Geosciences (IBG-2) Plant Sciences develops integrated concepts for sustainable intensification of plant production und utilisation of plant-based resources to develop future plant based bioeconomy.
Within the framework of the bioeconomy activities to develop innovative plant phenotyping infrastructure, IBG-2 coordinates research, networking and communication activities within the EU funded ESFRI project EMPHASIS and the EU funded I3 project EPPN2020. Within EPPN2020 plant phenotyping facilities are available for access to diverse user groups while EMPHASIS aims at development of long term pan-European infrastructure. The coordination of these activities requires cooperation and communication with diverse stakeholders such as facility operators, users from industry and academia, technology developers, project partners, decision makers, funders.

We are looking to recruit a

Research scientist in plant sciences: Coordination – Communication – Research Management

Your Job:

  • Planning and executing of project meetings, workshops, committee meetings with different stakeholders from academia, industry, funders, policy makers.
  • Support of research and infrastructure projects related to plant sciences, bioeconomy, in particular within EPPN2020 and EMPHASIS
  • Public relations to advertise the activities of the projects and the institute
  • Development and application of web based concepts and tools, in cooperation with IT experts, to enable interaction with stakeholders within and outside the networks
  • Support in the performance of user projects in different plant phenotyping facilities

Your Profile:

  • University education in natural sciences
  • Affinity and experience in using written and spoken communication tools particularly related to social media
  • Ability to use and develop communication strategies including the use of multimedia, web-based technology
  • Experience of working with scientific institutions, organizations, policy makers and funders
  • Experience in public relations, publishing of print and web based media
  • Experience in project management and general administrative duties
  • Very proficient in written and spoken English
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
