For a university professorship at the Faculty of Georesources and Materials Engineering at RWTH Aachen University

Candidates are expected to have documented experience in the field of characterization, and ideally simulation, of inorganic materials and composites with dominating interfacial properties, preferably for applications in energy technology. Mechanical loading and chemical stability, ranging from the micro-scale to component level, are crucial aspects for the performance and lifetime of future energy technology systems. The research focus and activities will be based at the Institute of Energy and Climate Research (IEK) of Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH and is coupled with a director position of section IEK-2 (Microstructure and Properties of Materials). Research activities should be closely coordinated with the materials science and technology research priorities at IEK in addition to collaborations with other institutes within the Forschungszentrum. Furthermore, cooperation in both research and academic disciplines with the materials science and engineering departments at RWTH Aachen University is expected.

Prerequisites for recruitment include a university degree, a doctoral degree, didactical competence and supplementary scientific achievements within the scope of a habilitation, a junior professorship or research experience at a university, research institution or other relevant establishments.
