Best applications, best projects

At the Supercomputing Conference 2012, JSC received HPCwire's 2012 Reader's Choice Award for "Best use of HPC in life sciences" for using NVIDIA Tesla GPUs to uncover causes of and treatments for autism, Alzheimer's, and other neurological diseases. The application is currently being developed at Jülich's Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine (INM-1).

Kristel Michielsen and Hans De Raedt, University of Groningen, were awarded with the Wim Nieuwpoort Award 2011 for their application "Massively Parallel Quantum Dynamics Simulator".

The European ITEA2 research project ParMA (Parallel Programming for Multicore Architectures), which was coordinated by JSC, received the "ITEA Achievement Award 2010 in Gold", see
ITEA Gold Award for ParMA.

Best Paper Awards

The paper "Massively Parallel Loading" by Wolfgang Frings (JSC), Dong H. Ahn, Matthew LeGendre, Todd Gamblin, Bronis R. de Supinski, and Felix Wolf won the Best Paper Award of the International Conference on Supercomputing 2013 (ICS 2013);
