Hyper (HyPlant Processing Experiment)

HYPER – Project Webpage

The scientific objectives of the HyPlant Processing Experiment (Hyper ) is to develop the proof-of-concept of a data processing scheme for the high-performance imaging spectrometer HyPlant. This project builds on previous work from the Forschungszentrum Jülich (Germany) and the experience from using the HyPlant airborne sensor. This instrument now has been used in several field campaigns covering agricultural areas, grasslands, and various forest types in Finland, Germany, France, Italy, Czech Republic and the USA (in cooperation with NASA) in the years 2012 – 2014.

The HYPER project aim to develop a processing scheme that will provide the basis for an operational processing of the HyPlant data.

  1. Develop relevant processing modules for the novel high resolution airborne sensor HyPlant.
  2. Integrate these modules in an environment suitable for end-to-end performance evaluation of airborne data
  3. Evaluate the interaction and performance of the modules for a reliable calculation of maps of vegetation products and sun-induced fluorescence.
