The NMR/MRI group of IBG-2 focuses on functional, quantitative, non-invasive measurements of plants and soils under realistic environmental conditions. Our NMR lab in a green house allows us to measure plant growth, water transport and (re)distribution under a very wide range of (climatic) conditions that are relevant to plant biology, soils science and agriculture. Our interests lie primarily in performing dynamic, quantitative studies of biomass, water distribution profiles and physiological parameters like membrane permeability. My current, main focus is on creating the proper experimental conditions for performing relevant NMR experiments on plants, and roots in soils.
