Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter

With background and focus on applied mathematics, my main interest is mathematical modeling and software development of functions and processes as a research and analysis tool to study plants and discover traits in an interdisciplinary environment at the Institute of Bio- and Geoscience (IBG-2) at Forschungszentrum Jülich.

Software development is done for our root research tool SimRoot as well as stand alone simulation and analysis tools.

Plant science and biology increasingly depends on mathematical analysis of large complex datasets and the solution of dynamic systems (PDEs). This is known to be challenging with its heterogeneous nature of problems and interacting non-linear coupled processes.

Interests and recent work:

- Numerical simulations and solution of PDEs
- Convection-diffusion-reaction problems
- Modeling of water flow and solute transport in unsaturated porous media
- Co-Simulation and weak coupling
- Statistical data analysis
- Modeling and programming
