Information content of electrical resistivity anisotropy

Soil electrical properties are usually interpreted with isotropic electrical models. In particular in real world situations, soils and rocks may show an effective anisotropy due to internal structures like microlayers, fracture zones or macropores. The aim of this project funded within the context of the SFB-TR32 (2010-2012) is to explore the information content of the anisotropy of the effective spectral electrical properties for the characterization of sub-scale sedimentological structures and preferential flow processes.
