Harry Vereecken received a Ph.D. in agricultural sciences from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium (1988). He obtained his habilitation in hydrogeology 1997 at Bonn University, Germany. Since 2000 he is full professor at Bonn University, Faculty of Agriculture, and director of the Agrosphere (IBG-3), Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH. He is co-editor of Vadose Zone Journal and member of the editorial board of Geoderma. He is member of the the Nordrhein-Westfälische Akademie der Wissenschaften, of the "Sachverständigenausschuss für die Zulassung von Pflanzenschutzmitteln", and of the scientific board of the BRGM, Orléans, France. He is coordinator of TERENO which is a network of environmental observatories in Germany. His research interests include Hydrology, Hydrogeophysics, and Soil Science. Harry Vereecken is also involved in the experimental and theoretical analysis of reactive solute transport in soils and aquifers, including the development of geophysical measurement techniques for noninvasive detection of solute transport using electrical and magnetic methods.
