International Summerschool on Bioelectronics

From June 19th to June 26th, 2016, the International Summerschool on Bioelectronics, the 5th Summer School of the Peter Grünberg Institute-8/Institute of Complex System-8 (PGI8/ICS8) of the Research Center Jülich jointly with the Neuroelectronics group of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Technical University of Munich, was held in Hirschegg, Kleinwalsertal (Austria). As a honored guest, Sahika Inal (Centre Microélectronique de Provence, France) was invited to present her scientific research. With respect to the members of PGI-8/ICS-8 and TUM, group leaders gave motivational perspective talks. Postdocs, Ph.D. and master students presented actual research topics ranging from surfaces, interfaces and methods of their analysis to advanced technologies of molecular sensing and neuroscience. Potential research strategies and institute organization questions, such as: Building of the Knowledge Base, Working with Cell Culture, Reorganization of the Website, Usage of E-notebook, Resource Management, and Links between Groups were well discussed and ways of more efficiently work of the institute were planned. Besides the academic part, the participants proved their strength, stamina and determination on the slopes of the Alps during hiking and climbing in spare time during the day and strengthened interpersonal relationships in an informal atmosphere including evening discussions in the bar.

The next PGI8/ICS8 workshop in terms of school is scheduled for the winter of 2017.
