Gas separation membranes Department



The department consists of two teams, concerned with oxygen-permeable membranes and hydrogen-permeable membranes, respectively. Here, new materials and thin-film membranes are developed for the efficient separation of gas in industrial processes. The objective is to supply pure oxygen and hydrogen in an energy-efficient manner. Another focus is on membrane reactors, in which these gases, together with other substances, are converted into the desired product. Potential applications can be found in the power plant, cement, and chemical industries etc.
