Prof. Dr. Olivier Guillon new Head of IEK-1
The Board of Directors appointed Prof. Dr. Olivier Guillon as new head of IEK-1.
Dr. Hans-Peter Buchkremer, former acting director of the Institute of Energy and Climate Research (IEK-1), hands over the key of the institut to the new director. The Board of Directors appointed Prof. Dr. Olivier Guillon as new head of IEK-1.
On 15 February, Prof. Olivier Guillon took over as new head of the Institute of Energy and Climate Research – Materials Synthesis and Processing (IEK-1). He succeeds acting head Dr. Hans Peter Buchkremer. Prof. Guillon studied materials science and materials mechanics and completed his PhD in France.
He then continued his research career at the University of Washington (USA), Technische Universität Darmstadt, and Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena. Parallel to his appointment at Jülich, he was also appointed professor of materials synthesis for energy technologies at RWTH Aachen University.
In addition to contributing his expertise in the field of ceramic processes and sintering, at Jülich he is now developing solid oxide fuel/electrolytic cells, thermal barrier coatings, gas separation membranes, and solid-state batteries.
