The research project is concerned with optimizing current gas turbines and gas turbine technology for use with hydrogen-rich fuel gases.

H2-IGCC EU research project

The HS-IGCC project, co-funded by the European Union's 7th Framework Programme for Research and Development, is based on the initiative outlined in the European Turbine Network's (ETN) Position Paper on Gas Turbine Fuel Flexibility (August 2007).

In November 2009, the H2-IGCC project was launched with 24 partners from ten countries and a total budget of 17.8 million euros.

Successful dissemination and implementation of the project results will be an important step towards opening up the market by 2020 for the integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) with carbon capture and storage (CCS), by increasing gas turbine efficiency and fuel flexibility.

During the four-year project, the European Turbine Network will provide coordination and management service.
