MEM-OXYCOAL

MEM-OXYCOAL oxygen permeable ceramic membranes for coal-fired power plants; TP: electrical and electrochemical characterization methods

Project data

Project: MEM-OXYCOAL
Funding source: Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi)
Term: 4 years

Project objective

Development of mixed-conducting membrane systems for use under oxycoal conditions

  • Hermsdorfer Institut für Technische Keramik (HITK)

Project work

The transport properties of materials and functional/protective coatings and their change with operating time (degradation) are identified in air/simulated flue gas at appropriate process temperatures. Characterization is performed by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and conductivity relaxation measurements in the frequency domain. The modelling of the transport processes in multilayer membranes aims to design new multilayer membrane concepts on the computer and optimize them with respect to efficiency and stability.
