Project objective: Development of metal-supported solid oxide fuel cells

Project data

Project: Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) research project Next Gen MS SOFC
Funding source: BMWi, research code 0327867
Term: October 2009 to June 2013

Project partners

  • Plansee SE (Lechbruck)
  • AVL (Remscheid)
  • Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT, Karlsruhe)
  • Forschungszentrum Jülich (Jülich)

Project objective

Development of metal-supported solid oxide fuel cells

Project work Forschungszentrum Jülich

  • Development of intermediate layers between the ITM substrate and a thin-film electrolyte
  • Development of thin-film electrolytes
  • Development of a cathode material that does not require sintering
  • Scaling of the manufacturing technique up to and including the pilot plant scale

Projekt Next Gen MS SOFCLayer structures investigated in the project

Projekt Next Gen MS SOFC: REMScanning electron micrograph of a gene B half cell (from bottom to top: anode, electrolyte, cathode-side diffusion barrier)
