IEK-3 offers a variety of training positions in different skilled occupations and dual study programs. Depending on the job you wish to train for, you can become acquainted with the specific tasks in the lab, workshop or in information technology (IT) and administration. As a lab technician, for instance, you may learn how novel components are manufactured and measured or how to use a particular method to optimally prepare certain samples for analysis. In the labs, the focus is on setting up CE-certified experimental facilities. Mathematical and technical software developers (MATSEs) learn to use mathematical models for solving problems in the areas of information science, technology, science and industry, implement these models in program systems independently and participate in the interpretation of the results. Participants in Forschungszentrum Jülich's MATSE training program are simultaneously enrolled in the Scientific Programming degree program at Aachen University of Applied Sciences, Campus Jülich, in order to simultaneously obtain a Bachelor of Science.
