Dr. Thomas Grube

Group leader Transport

Dr. Thomas Grube studied at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences, specializing in energy and environmental technology and at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences, focusing on industrial engineering. In 2014, he obtained his engineering doctorate from the Technical University of Berlin. Dr. Grube has been employed at the IEK-3 since 1998 and has headed the process and systems analysis group between 2014 and 2015. Since 2016 he has been heading the Transport group. His work focuses on energy systems analysis, primarily related to transport systems. Select topics are the dynamic simulation of vehicle drivetrains, fuel provision infrastructure assessments and the well-to-wheel analysis. In these respects, new transport-related systems, particularly with fuel cells and batteries, play a special role.
