Hybrid-Solar Cells

Nanoparticles from earth abundant and non-toxic elements are studied in the research group Materials Characterization and Nanomaterials. Some of these nanoparticles might be useful for hybrid organic-inorganic bulk heterojunction devices. We will initially identify useful nanoparticle materials for hybrid photovoltaics, identify suitable polymers to combine them with and then make devices out of those polymer-nanoparticle combinations using the same methods as for organic solar cells (spin coating and evaporation of the back contact).
