EUFAR (European Facility for Airborne Research) is an integrating activity funded by the European Commission. The aim is to coordinate the instrumented research aircraft provided by different European operators and the hyperspectral imaging sensors in order to give researchers access to the infrastructure best suited to their needs.
As part of the ongoing EUFAR-FP7 project, IEK-7 coordinates the Future of the Fleet (N3FF) networking activity and the Stratospheric Measurements expert working group. The main objective of N3FF is to prepare a study on the possible use for future European research of those high-altitude aircraft (flying at up to fifteen kilometres) which are currently not part of the EUFAR fleet. It will also identify any gaps.
IEK-7 is also a partner in the DENCHAR joint research activity of EUFAR, which is coordinated by IEK-8. This project involves the development and evaluation of new hygrometers for airborne research.
