Large Aerosol Chamber
The section "Aerosols" operates a large aerosol chamber (250 m3). In this chamber we investigate the SOA formation from the ozonolysis of terpeneoids and the heterogeneous conversion of nitrogen oxides on surfaces of aqueous multicomponent aerosols. The conditions in the chamber are comparable to those of the nighttime planetary boundary layer. Meanwhile the aerosol chamber is used to generate aerosols (in high concentrations) to provide a source of particles for studies of stabile isotopes (Fisseha et al. 2009) and hygroscopic properties of mineral aerosols (Zhao et al. 2010).
