Techniques for radical concentration measurements
The IEK-8 has great expertise in techniques, to measure small concentrations of free radicals (OH, HO2, RO2) Link auf Photochemie und Radikale in the atmosphere. Because of their high reactivity the detection of radicals is challenging:
- Radicals are short-lived species and atmospheric concentrations are small.
- Radicals may be lost by surface reactions, which must be considered in the design and calibration of the instrument.
- Calibration of the instrument sensitivity requires sophisticated radical sources, which produce accurately known radical concentrations.
Two complementary methods are applied for the detection of OH, HO2 und RO2 at IEK-8
