System Integration

In addition to technology evaluation, the integration of these technologies into the energy system as well as the further development of energy infrastructures are decisively important.

An assessment is made from the system perspective. In this context, structural issues of future energy systems, such as the optimum degree of decentralized supply in the overall system or the configurability of the supply grids, must be analysed in more detail. Infrastructure for electricity, gas and fuel supply have been considered separately to date and will require more in-depth analysis in future, for example due to interdependencies resulting from advances in information and communications technology. From a technical perspective, there are new impulses for future topics in terms of a higher spatial and temporal resolution of the systems analysis approaches. From a European perspective, location advantages will become more important; their potential can only be realized in integrated energy markets and by means of appropriate policy measures, such as in support of renewable energies.
