Transformation Strategies

Shaping future energy systems raises issues concerning the social and political values and objectives as well as the paths to be taken, the instruments used to achieve a transformation and the normative framework.

A scientific consideration of technical, political and social uncertainties constitutes a great challenge. Whether and under which conditions a new energy system can respond flexibly to these uncertainties must be the subject of research. Acceptance issues play a key role in the evaluation of alternative transformation strategies as well as the use of individual technologies.
