Cytoarchitectonic parcellation of multimodal posterior intraparietal and adjacent parieto-occipital sulcus in the human brain

Cytoarchitectonic parcellation of multimodal posterior intraparietal and adjacent parieto-occipital sulcus in the human brain.

First microstructural parcellation and 3D maps of the functionally very heterogeneous higher-order cognitive posterior intraparietal cortex of the human brain, involved in visuomotor coordination, attention and working-memory. Similarity in topographic arrangement of areas as known from the non-human primate brain sheds new light on potential species homologies.

Improving Cytoarchitectonic Segmentation of Human Brain Areas with Self-supervised Siamese Networks

Improving Cytoarchitectonic Segmentation of Human Brain Areas with Self-supervised Siamese Networks.

Training deep neural networks to predict patch distance and location from high resolution histological patches of one brain volume yields models that recognize changes in cytoarchitecture and that, when fine-tuned, improve supervised area segmentation.

Microstructural proliferation in human cortex is coupled with the development of face processing

Microstructural proliferation in human cortex is coupled with the development of face processing

The development of face-selective regions, but not place-selective regions, is associated with microstructural proliferation in the human cortex, thereby suggesting a new model by which emergent brain function not only results from cortical pruning but also from cortical tissue proliferation.
