Using MEG to get at precise timing of brain processes

By using the Synthetic Aperture Magnometry (SAM) in an appropriate way we may estimate cortical activity which is to a large extent free from the effects of remote correlations.  Using this technique we illustrate how one can detect instances of coordinated activities among multiple cortical areas on a precise (2.5 ms) time scale.  We demonstrate how this may be used to reveal binding of cortical processes which are specific to behavior without resorting to any external time marker or averaging over time or frequencies.
