16th JCNS Laboratory Course - Neutron Scattering 2012
September 3-14, 2012 Jülich/Garching - Germany
Organised by Forschungszentrum Jülich in cooperation with RWTH Aachen and WWU Münster.
If you are a student of physics, chemistry, material science or biosciences with BSc (or Vordiplom or equivalent) you are welcome to apply for participation in the 16th JCNS Laboratory Course Neutron Scattering of Forschungszentrum Jülich. To follow the course you will need elementary knowledge of applied mathematics, solid state physics and quantum mechanics which is usually part of a BSc study of natural sciences. The course will be held on beginner's level and is not intended for scientists already having experience in neutron scattering.
The laboratory course is free of charge, there is no tuition fee. Accommodation and meals during the course will be provided by JCNS. Travel expenses will be reimbursed for a limited number of foreign students.
For application you have to enter your personal information using the link at the end of this page, print and sign the generated form and send it by mail or fax to JCNS. We need your signed response! Filling the on-line form only will not be sufficient. If you wish to include any additional information (e.g. a letter of recommendation) send it together with the letter/fax. Please make sure to return the form so that it arrives at latest until 25 May 2012.
Due to the large number of applicants exceeding the capacity of the experiment groups there has to be a selection based on subject and terms of your studies. In the past about 40% of the applicants were selected. Preference will be given to students who have the necessary previous knowledge to participate in the course but did not yet start with their PhD thesis and/or intend to use neutron scattering during their future work. We will inform you whether you are selected about one month after the deadline.
