Nanomagnetism and spintronics

Nanomagnetism deals with the investigation of magnetism in materials reduced to nanometre length scale along one, two or three dimensions. Reduced dimensions and the presence of surfaces and interfaces lead to new or enhanced magnetic properties and functionalities. More

Institute of Crystallography

The staff at the Institute of Crystallography does research on crystal structures using neutron and x-ray radiation under the guidance of Professor Georg Roth. The goals include a further development of diffraction and scattering methods as well as an application of these methods to elucidate structure-property relationships in modern materials. More


ESS Instrumentation

The ESS is a next-generation European neutron research facility to be built in Lund, Sweden; our department “ESS Instrumentation” designs concepts for neutron scattering instruments there. More


High Brilliance Neutron Source

The high brilliance accelerator-based neutron source HBS represents a unique infrastructure for neutron analysis (imaging methods and scattering) to be used in a multitude of scientifc disciplines such as physics, chemistry, biology, geology, materials and engineering sciences. More
