SLA4D-Grid - Service Level Agreements for D-Grid

The project SLA4D-Grid will develop a Service Level Agreement (SLA) layer for D-Grid. This layer is placed between the D-Grid middleware (gLite, Globus, UNICORE) and the D-Grid user layer and will be integrated into the existing infrastructure. Communities will use the SLA services through corresponding clients or an application programming interface. The SLA layer is an added value without modifying the current D-Grid usage, i.e. communities without requirements for SLAs will not be affected at all, thus allowing for a smooth transition of the SLA4D-Grid results into operation.

Users, D-Grid communities, and D-Grid resource providers can use and offer resources under economic conditions through the SLA layer. Service demands that require a certain Quality of Service (QoS) are matched with corresponding offers by means of SLAs. SLAs will be automatically created, negotiated, and monitored by the SLA layer exploiting further D-Grid services such as Monitoring and Accounting. As a result both, academic and industrial users, can use D-Grid efficiently.
