Supported Platforms

The Scalasca tool set has been successfully tested on the following platforms:

  • IBM Blue Gene/P
  • IBM SP & BladeCenter clusters
  • Cray XT5
  • SGI Altix
  • NEC SX-8
  • SiCortex systems
  • various Linux/Intel (x86/x64) clusters
The following platforms have not been tested recently:
  • IBM Blue Gene/L
  • Cray XT3/4
  • Sun Solaris/SPARC-based clusters
  • other NEC-SX systems
However, the supplied makefile definition files might still work on these systems.

Since the code is fairly portable, it is also likely to work on other systems as well with modest effort by someone experienced with the intricacies of MPI libraries and compilers. The supplied Makefile definition files may provide a good basis for building and testing the toolset on other platforms.


Requirements

To install and use all components of the Scalasca tool set, with available C/C++/Fortran compilers and MPI libraries, the following software is needed:

This package is a stand-alone distribution of the CUBE visualization component that is also available as part of the Scalasca 1.2 toolset.


Requirements

To install and use all components of the CUBE package, the following software is needed:

    For the new GUI:
  • Qt4
    • Use at least version 4.2

    For the deprecated GUI:
  • wxWidgets, a cross-plattform GUI library
    • Use wxGTK, version 2.6.x
    • Scalasca does not work with wxX11 or wxMSW
    • wxMac and other ports have not been tested
  • GTK+
    • wxGTK is based on either GTK1 or GTK2
    • GTK1 (latest release 1.2.10) is known to work and is easier to install
