More Space for Neutron Research
Garching/Jülich, 20 February 2017 – More instruments, more employees, and more visiting scientists – the cooperation between Forschungszentrum Jülich, the Technical University of Munich (TUM), and Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht on the scientific use of Germany’s most powerful research neutron source (FRM II) has been growing steadily for years. An official ground-breaking ceremony was held today at Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Zentrum (MLZ) in Garching near Munich for the construction of two new buildings that are to serve the much increased need for space there.

At the worlds highest flux research reactor at ILL in Grenoble, JCNS operates the Collaborative Research Group instruments, IN12, IN22 and D23, in a consortium with the French CEA. This gives German user groups access to world-class instruments for structural and dynamical studies. www.ill.eu
