Best Poster Award for Florian Melsheimer

9.12.2016

Florian Melsheimer, Ph.D. student at the Peter Grünberg Institut 9 (PGI-9 Semiconductor Nanoelectronics), “EUV Lithography and Spectroscopy” group, has won the best poster award at the „International Workshop on EUV and Soft X-Ray Sources“. The conference took place in Amsterdam, Netherlands between 07.-09. November 2016.

He received the award for his poster entitled „Study of plasma dynamics and spectral tunability in hollow cathode triggered gas-discharge sources“, which visualized his own results as well as results of two bachelor students supervised in the group, Malte Ranis and Sophia Schröder. Further authors are Daniel Wilson and Larissa Juschkin. Part of the presentation was slow motion videos of the pinching process with a frame rate of 200 mio. frames per second. The compressed plasma pinch is used for generation of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) and soft x-ray radiation.
The international workshop is a leading conference for state of the art of EUV and soft x-ray generation and is visited by members of the academic as well as the industry community. This year’s conference was co-organized by the „Advanced Research Center for Nanolithography“ (ARCNL) in Amsterdam.
