Jülich’s End-of-Year Lecture 2013

Research in 3-D: From Understanding Molecular Machines to Developing Targeted Treatment

venue
LVR-LandesMuseum Bonn

In this year’s keynote lecture at the End-of-Year Ceremony, Prof. Dr. Dieter Willbold and Junior Professor Dr. Birgit Strodel from the Institute of Complex Systems will provide insights into the complex three-dimensional structures of proteins, which function like small machines in our body’s cells and work tirelessly to carry out a wide variety of tasks. Even if these molecular motors are only slightly damaged, this can have serious consequences for both the cell and the entire organism and lead to diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Jülich researchers will present the fascinating 3-D structures of the proteins they are investigating and describe the applications of their research.

This year’s keynote lecture will be held on 20 November 2013 at 18:00 in the LVR-LandesMuseum in Bonn. (The lecture will be in German with simultaneous interpretation into English).

Please note that this event is by invitation only.
